“Bachelorette”
Bachelorette follows a group of friends from high school (Kirsten Dunst, Isa Fisher and Lizzy Caplan) who take on the challenge of becoming bridesmaids for their friend.

Like most wedding comedies, everything starts out fine until the bachelorette party. That’s where everything goes wrong. One ruined wedding dress, three wasted bridesmaids, three ego filled groomsmen and one unsuspecting bride (Rebel Wilson) allows for one very long night.
This film had so much potential but it just doesn’t work. The mood is all over the place. In a snap it changes from something ridiculously funny to something very serious. In a way this mirrors real life but, the way they have filmed it, it just feels wrong. The majority of the actors played roles that they have already played before. Take Lizzy Caplan for example. She could easily be playing an older version of her character from 2004 hit Mean Girls. It’s very distracting watching the movie when all you can think about are all the other films these actors have been in. This movie does not allow you to get lost in it.
Yet again, half the leads in this film are Australian. Both Isla Fisher and Rebel Wilson had humble beginnings on our TV screens, before making it big in Hollywood. This movie is not a good one for Wilson. Her talent for delivering natural comedy was ignored by the director, which ultimately made her character feel unbalanced. Occasionally she let her Aussie accent slip through which didn’t help.
Leslye Headland has done a good job with this film considering it was her first time directing. She wanted to make a film about the inner complexities of female relationships and she has done that perfectly. However the movie could have been so much funnier if she had used all her actors’ talents.
Bachelorette is enjoyable, just don’t expect too much from it – but definitely expect a lot of yelling and screaming.
