The Moreton Bay Regional Council is holding a drumMUSTER at the Dayboro Transfer Station on Wednesday May 20. The council will have staff available to receive drums between 8.30 am and 1 pm on the day.
All local farmers and chemical users are encouraged to bring their empty drums along to the muster. The drumMUSTER Program recycles empty, clean, steel and plastic ag and vet chemical drums. All drums must be presented "Residue free with the lids removed". It would also help if the steel drums had the base punctured. Delivery of drums to the program is free.
The program has recycled over 2.2 million drums in Queensland. Empty drums end up being manufactured into products such as wheelie bins, drainage pipe and concrete reinforcing products.
Whilst farmers were the original target for the program when it began ten years ago it is now recognized that in semi urban areas there are many chemical users such as golf courses, bowling clubs, pest controllers, weed spraying contractors and councils themselves who regularly use chemicals and have drums which are suitable for recycling.
drumMUSTER South Queensland Regional Consultant Colin Hoey is very pleased that people in council such as Councilor Millar and Mr. Chris Webb, Moreton Bay Regional Council are so supportive of the program.  Anyone requiring further information regarding the muster can contact Colin Hoey on 0428 964 576 or Chris Webb on 3480 6556.
