COUNCIL NEWS IN BRIEF Feb09
New Logo
Moreton Bay Regional Council has launched its new, permanent logo. Designed to reflect the diversity and key characteristics of the new Moreton Bay region, the new logo was developed over several months, taking into account valuable input from residents and community members, students, artists and council staff.
The logo contains three prominent colours – blue, orange and green – which grow bolder as the move from left to right—reflecting the region’s strength as we move forward.
Green (top) represents our much-valued environmental assets and mountain ranges.
Orange (middle) sweep and dots represent sand and sunshine as well as all the communities, individuals and families who call our growing region home;
Blue (bottom) represents the bay and our region’s waterways;
(See the logo in colour on Council’s website: www.moretonbay.qld.gov.au )
Council adopts committee meeting structure
Moreton Bay Regional Council will continue its 4pm weekly general meetings following its adoption of a formal committee meeting structure.
The Tuesday general meetings will continue to rotate among the three district offices at Caboolture, Strathpine and Redcliffe.
The adopted format allows for debate of complex issues at co-ordination committee meetings, held from 10.30am on Tuesdays at the same location as that day’s general meeting.
The coordination committee consists of all councillors, must have a quorum of seven to proceed and its meetings are open to the public.
Councillors will also attend regular presentations and workshops which will complement the meeting structure.
Members of the public who want to know about the dates and locations of public meetings can access them on council’s website www.moretonbay.qld.gov.au which will be updated if changes to the existing schedule occur.
The next general meeting, held at Strathpine District Office, will be at 4pm on Tuesday, February 10.
