What an extraordinary season – six months without a drop of useful rain followed by months of unremitting downpours. The ground is so greasy on our gentle Kalahari Downs slopes that it is dangerous to go ‘down the paddock’ – with even the tractor sliding sideways on the tracks.. But we will be sticking to that mechanised form of transport – because it is easy to catch and doesn’t need to be vaccinated against Hendra virus!

The NBN (National Broadband Network) does seem to have gained momentum and be rolling along nicely.
The quoted speed on the NBN website is ‘up to’ 100 Mbps.

Property Crime
Over the past month there has been one reported break and enter of a shed but no property was taken. There have been two reports of property stolen from vehicles and a car stolen from Strathpine was located burnt out at Ocean View. Whilst this is a reduction on previous months, please remain vigilant as to suspicious persons and vehicles and lock up your homes and cars.

A local resident has contacted me to advise that they have been diagnosed with Ross River Virus – a mutated strain that would appear to have more severe and longer lasting symptoms than the general variety!

The Dawn Service will be held at the Cenotaph in Roderick Cruice Park (beside the pool) and will commence at 0515. Bring a light and participate in the service.
Parade and Main Service
The Main Parade will be as it was last year. Form up will be at the hotel at 9.00am and the march will begin at 9.30am sharp and proceed to the school.
