May2014_Lawnton Lakes Estate – THE DEATH KNELL FOR LOCAL KOALAS

The Lawnton Lakes Estate development project was approved by Moreton Bay Regional Council (MBRC) in 2005.  No considerations were given to the koalas and other native wildlife utilising this site.  The vegetation consisted of primary species such as the Blue Gum with predominantly secondary species of koala food trees dominating the site.

May2014_PR VIEW CLUB NEWS

We are having a membership drive and hope that newly retired or community minded women might like to join our club.  We meet regularly for lunch on the third Wednesday of the month at the Murrumba Downs Tavern in the Griffin room at 10.30am for an 11 o’clock start.  There is always an interesting speaker, entertainer or entertainment.  Members meet at other times for outings and coffee.

Dayboro locals Tony Wagner and Renae McGinn thrilled their friends and families when they tied the knot on Saturday the 29th of March 2014.  After a week of rain, the sun came out to shine on the happy couple as they exchanged their vows at Ocean View Estates Winery.

May2014_SAMFORD MUSEUM NEWS

A truly educational and fun day occurred recently at the museum when we happily hosted pupils, teachers and some parents from the Dayboro State School.  Approximately 45 boys and girls dressed in gorgeous school uniforms enjoyed our demonstrations of timber production, blacksmith shoeing horses, the old school room, toys of bygone days, very old telephone shared party lines, and browsing through our many and varied static displays.
