COMPANION CARD PROGRAM OPEN FOR APPLICATIONS

Carolyn Male MP, State Member for Pine Rivers, would like to make people aware that the Queensland Companion Card program has now been introduced for people with a disability with a lifelong need for attendant care support in order to enable them to participate in community life.
The program promotes fair ticketing for people who need this kind of support and removes one of the barriers to their participation in activities and events – the expense of purchasing an additional ticket for their companion.

POLICE NEWS June09

logo_police.gifOn the morning of 15th May entry was gained to two residences on Basin Road, Samsonvale.  Items including computer equipment, jewellery and mobile phones were stolen.  An offender was located in the vicinity in possession of stolen property and has been charged in connection with these offences.  Entry was by removing flyscreen and opening windows.
Overnight on 10th May an offender entered through an unlocked door of a house on Aitcheson Road and cash and jewellery were stolen.

REGIONAL TALENT QUEST FOR YOUNG PEOPLE June09

Young people in Moreton Bay will have the opportunity to showcase their talent during an upcoming region-wide talent quest.  The quest – “Get Staged” – will be a Moreton Bay Regional Council youth project.
Mayor Allan Sutherland said the quest would be presented on similar lines to the television program “Australia’s Got Talent” and would be open to young people between five and 25 years.  Auditions will be conducted in Caboolture, Strathpine and Redcliffe.

KOALA GROUP BRANCHES OUT WITH COUNCIL SUPPORT

Koala Care Rescue provides a 24-hour rescue service and can be reached on 0401 080 333.
Moreton Bay Regional Council donated $500 to Moreton Bay Koala Rescue Inc, formerly known as Caboolture Koala Care & Rescue Inc.
The donation, organised by Mayor Allan Sutherland, will help the organisation expand its services across the entire Moreton Bay region.

The season has turned, but we have never gone into winter in better shape.  We have good grass reserves and plenty of surface water.  The cattle around the Mountain are in wonderful condition – and there are whispers that international beef markets might be on the mend at last.  If the A$ behaves itself a little better, the depressing local cattle prices might mend too!
