Mr Roberts and Commissioner Atkinson also announced that the current roll-out of, and training for, Taser devices would be put on hold for a period of four weeks, pending the outcome of the review.
Currently-issued tasers will continue to be used by Police officers in accordance with existing policies and procedures.
A serious incident occurred at Brandon in the early hours of Friday 12 June 2009 which is currently being investigated by the QPS’ Ethical Standards Command for the State Coroner with CMC oversight.
