FEDERAL ELECTION
More than ever Australia needs a strong and capable Government so people feel secure in their jobs or small business, and so that business can invest to employ and help grow the economy.
The Labor Party has not been capable of providing that leadership and remain divided and dysfunctional.
I didn’t like what Labor did to Kevin Rudd the first time around, and why wouldn’t they dump him again after the election? Labor members privately loathe Mr Rudd. I have never worked for Mr Rudd, but when one third of the Cabinet resign and Labor members prefer to lose their seats than vote for him as leader, there must be a problem. They didn’t vote for Mr Rudd because they claimed him to be a strong and capable leader, they openly said they dumped Ms Gillard to save some seats so Bill Shorten has a greater chance as Opposition Leader. That is not a sustainable position and wallpapering over their troubles won’t stand the test of time.
I have worked with Tony Abbott for 12 years and he is a strong leader, Rhodes scholar and experienced as a successful Minister in John Howard’s government, and I believe will be a very capable Prime Minister.
I have worked hard locally and as Shadow Minister for Health, and in the Coalition we are getting on with developing policies for all Australians to combat the cost of living pressures and tackle many other important issues that the Labor Party are ignoring.
Sixteen members of the Shadow Cabinet were Howard Government Ministers and that is why the Coalition will deliver a strong and prosperous economy and a safe and secure Australia.

The Federal election will be held some time between the 24th August and early November. If you are going to be away over this period you may need to postal vote. ANZAC CENTENARY
The ANZAC Centenary will be one of the most significant remembrance events in our nation’s history and an opportunity to honour those who sacrificed so much for Australia and our way of life. I would like to inform residents that the ballot procedures for Gallipoli 2015 Centenary attendance have been announced. Although numbers are restricted for the ANZAC Day celebrations, I encourage residents to think about travelling to Gallipoli throughout 2015, because the battle itself went for eight months after landing. If you are interested in registering for the ballot please visit www.gallipoli2015.dva.gov.au . Registrations will open in early November 2013 and close late January 2014.

Late last month BrisBricks Lego expo came to Strathpine. I am pleased to announce that the money raised from entry prizes, totalling $13,000, went to the Pine Rivers Neighbourhood Centre. Congratulations to Seath Holswich, State Member for Pine Rivers, on his hard work in organising the event which saw nearly 7,000 people attend over two days.
RED SHIELD APPEAL
As the Chairman of the Pine Rivers District Red Shield Appeal, it was great to hold the Red Shield Appeal Breakfast again this year. In anticipation of the Red Shield Doorknock Appeal, we raised $16,390 for a great cause.
