AUG2010 Soccer Mums and Dads will Love This

The world game will kick off with a new $4 million home at the Samford Parklands Sporting Complex.
Moreton Bay Regional Council’s Division 11 councillor, Bob Millar, said the 2010/11 budget had kicked another goal for soccer in the region.
“I’m with the soccer mums and dads, this is a big league result for amateur sport and Australia’s most popular junior football code,” Cr Millar said.
“It’s part of a $5.5 million investment over coming years that will see the Samford Parklands become a hub for soccer with new junior and senior fields, a clubhouse and car parks.
“Netball and tennis are already settling into new facilities at Samford, and soccer will complete the trifecta.”
Cr Millar said this year’s budget was a win for sport and recreation in Division 11.
“We’ll also be drawing up designs for football parking facilities at the Dayboro Showgrounds over this financial year,” Cr Millar said.
“There’s $100,000 over the next two years for car park renovations at the Narangba Scouts in McCullough Road and the Williamina Court Sports Facility.
“And in the next few months, council will be cutting the ribbon on a new section of cycle and pedestrian pathway on Oakey Flat Road north of Young Road at Narangba.”
More than $650,000 will be spent on new roads in 2010 /11, with a further 18 roads across the division to be resurfaced and another three gravel routes earmarked for sealing.
“The safety upgrades will continue on Mt Nebo Road from the Mt Glorious Road Intersection, including new reflective markings and guide posts,” Cr Millar said.
“But it’s not all about sport and bitumen; council will also spend $185,000 on better storage facilities and a basement renovation at the Pine Rivers Heritage Museum.
“This is a budget that’s big on results for Division 11.”
