July 2010 DAYBORO TRAILRIDERS
SEE US AT THE DAYBORO SHOW – on July 10 & 11
Dayboro Trail Riders will be running the Team Penning for the Show Society at the Dayboro Show Grounds again this year on 10th & 11th July.
If you would like to try your skill at this the cost is $15.00 per head, per run, or $45.00 per team of three. If you would like to join in the fun on the day but don’t have a team, just turn up as there is always someone looking to make up a team.
DAYBORO DAY FESTIVAL: Members once again joined in the Dayboro Day Parade this year. It was great to see members in their jeans, club shirt and hats and all horses were well behaved.
What a fantastic day of riding we had on our monthly ride in May. Generally our rides are 3-4hrs but we had planned this all day ride knowing the great country we would be able to ride through. We were well rewarded with a beautiful day. We headed out of the showgrounds towards Laceys Creek through the river and into Baker’s and eventually into Rowe’s property and beyond before exiting onto Laceys Creek Road across into Wirth Road and Kenzie’s property where we stopped for lunch beside the creek. Kevin and Arthur had worked hard and slashed an area beside the creek in readiness for our feast. John Schuhmann had the BBQ ready to go for our arrival and cooked us a great lunch that Lisa had organised. Unfortunately Lisa was absent for the ride which is a rarity so she didn’t get to enjoy the fruits of her labour. After lunch with very full stomachs we struggled into saddles and set for home via a different trail. The day’s ride was mostly through open grazing land which was undulating with some steeper inclines and of course if you go up you have to go down but nothing over arduous (although one steep incline on the way home, saw an interesting result on how some people stay in the saddle!). The views of the ranges and surrounding country throughout the day make it well worth the efforts. The river crossings always add to the adventure and the horses welcomed the second water crossing at the end of the day.
A small group of Dayboro Trail Riders will have travelled to join Brisbane Valley Trail Riders for riding at Eskale Station situated between Toogoolawah and Esk. We are truly grateful and privileged to gain access to such a magnificent private property. It will have been a great weekend.
It is always lots of fun and you don’t have to be an expert, all you need is a horse guaranteed to give you some laughs.
If you would like to join us for our monthly ride you can download our ride calendar from our website www.dayborotrailriders.com.au
We always welcome new members to our club. For more information please contact any of our executive on: 0412 280 695, 3425 1165 or 3425 1120.
Until next time, Happy Riding!
Cheryl.
