SADDLEBACK DRIVE TO DAYBORO ROAD PEDESTRIAN REFUGE
I am sure that many readers of the Grapevine will recall my numerous and frustrating comments on the issue of gaining approval from the Department of Transport and Main Roads for installation of a pedestrian refuge on Dayboro Road to improve pedestrian access from the Alcheringa Estate.  This month, after continuing extensive negotiations I am pleased to report that with some minor design alterations approval has now been gained for this project to proceed.  With some tidying up of design and planning I expect that this project will now be undertaken early in the new financial year as I will be committing the required funding into the 2013/14 works programme.  This is indeed great news.
ANOTHER WAY TO CONTACT COUNCIL – SPOT, SNAP and SEND
Moreton Bay’s residents now have yet another way to report matters requiring council’s attention with the launch of a free Customer Request smartphone web-app which can be downloaded at www.mbrc.qld.gov.au/request.  The new Customer Request web-app will give residents the ability to report matters requiring the attention of council’s work teams with just a few swipes of a smartphone screen.  If you find a pothole, a fallen tree or graffiti in the Moreton Bay Region, reporting it to council is as easy as snapping a photo on your smartphone, tapping in a few details and uploading it.  With our Region covering 2,037 square kilometres, and in the aftermath of the recent storms and torrential rain, it’s never been more important for local residents to let council know about the things that need attention in your neighbourhood.

How lucky are we – the Library comes to us!  Our Mobile Library has been newly re-branded and looks very colourful and interesting.  Why not visit the Mobile Library and check out what is available.  The Mobile Library will visit Dayboro on Tuesday 9th and 23rd April 2013.  The large bus will stop outside Hay Cottage, Williams Street, Dayboro from 2.30pm – 7pm. The bus currently visits Mt Samson School, Camp Constable (Mt Glorious), John Scott Park (Samford), Mt Nebo Hall, Ocean View and Dayboro on a fortnightly roster. For more information and a complete roster visit our website www.moretonbay.qld.gov.au
DOB IN A POTHOLE
Following the recent rains Council crews are out and about 7 days a week fixing the many potholes that persist in breeding like rabbits during the wet weather, but with conditions starting to dry out the crews are making good headway with this task.  Nevertheless local knowledge is a very handy resource so please report any potholes you see to council on 3205 0555, mbrc@moretonbay.qld.gov.au or with Council’s new SPOT, SNAP and SEND app (See earlier topic).
ROAD WORKS
Apart from the significant maintenance taking place Council staff over the next few weeks are undertaking a road resurfacing project on Mt Samson Road in the vicinity of Winn Road.  This project will see approximately 700 metres of Mt Samson Road resurfaced which for those of us that travel the road regularly will see the current very rough conditions fixed.
