anzac.gifMonday, 25th April

Dawn Parade:  The Dawn Service will be held at the Memorial in the War Memorial Grounds [Showgrounds] and will commence at 0515. Bring a light and participate in the service.

Parade and Service

The Main Parade will be as it was last year. Form up will be at the hotel at 9.00am and the march will begin at 9.30am sharp and proceed to the school.  Buses will again be available to transport people to the Monument at the War Memorial Grounds [Showgrounds] for the service to commence at 10.00am, or alternatively a short walk from the school through Tullamore Park will get you to the Monument in time for the service.  The buses will be provided by Brisbane Bus Lines and the drivers will give their time as well, so thanks to Dale Tokley and the drivers from Brisbane Bus Lines.  The buses will also be available for anyone wanting to leave their cars at the War Memorial Grounds and be transported to the march and returned to the Memorial for the service after the parade.  This will allow people wishing to stay for the luncheon to have their vehicles available to leave at their leisure.  The buses will leave to transport people to the parade at 9.10 sharp.
Luncheon
We would again like to invite everybody to attend the luncheon after the Service.  To cover the costs of the luncheon, donations have been received from the Dayboro Apex Club and the Dayboro & Districts Junior Rugby League Sporting Club and the Dayboro Rodeo Association.  A Two-up game will be held at the hotel starting at 1.30pm. All proceeds will go to the War Memorial Association.
Wreath Laying Ceremony
Organisations or private people wanting to lay a wreath please contact Richard Hawkins on 3289 9208 email hawkins.family1@bigpond.com or Allan Kilby on 3425 1122 email allan.kilby@gmail.com
Private people wishing to lay a wreath, can, if desired, state the person it is in memory of.  This will be announced when the person is called forward.  This extends the time taken for the wreath laying ceremony, but we think the extra time taken is worth it.
Due to lack of flowers available at this time of year it would be appreciated if the person or organisation could supply their own wreath.
School Service
An Anzac Day service will be held at the school on the 14th April at 9.00am.
Lions Digger’s Lunch – April 16
The annual Lions Digger’s Lunch will be held on Saturday the 16th of April at the football club at 12:00.  Returned service people and their partners are most welcome.  Guest speaker will be Ian Flinders and his subject will be “Revisiting S.E. Asian P.O.W. Sites”  Please contact Richard Hawkins if you wish to attend.
R.S.L.
There is some interest in starting an R.S.L. sub branch in Dayboro.  Included in the many objects of a local sub-branch would be the welfare of the growing number of Returned Service people in the Dayboro district by means of advocacy services with trained welfare officers to help people through the Department of Veteran Affairs bureaucratic maze.  A service badly lacking in Dayboro.  For more info please contact Richard Hawkins.
