The Moreton Bay Region’s 26,500 local businesses will have the chance to get up to speed with the digital economy ahead of the debut of the National Broadband Network’s (NBN) high speed internet infrastructure.
A Moreton Bay Regional Council spokesperson said the Get Up to Speed program would help local businesses to maximise the on-line opportunities the NBN’s roll-out would bring to the region.
“As one of the fastest growing urban areas in Australia, council is keen to make sure local businesses are at the starting gate and ahead of the pack as soon as the NBN flicks the go switch on the region’s high speed internet super highway.”
The spokesperson said Get Up To Speed was a 12- week government subsidised program, hosted by broadbandtoday.com.au and the Creative Collective, to assist business in building new skills around current and emerging digital technologies.
Most of the program will be delivered on-line through weekly web seminars, eLessons, and a private Facebook group, with access to digital mentors specific to the Moreton Bay Region.
The cost of the Get Up To Speed program is $250 with a $175 rebate available to those purchasing a new internet enabled p.c or tablet device.
“With the NBN Co expected to unveil the next phase of its broadband roll-out plan in coming weeks, this is your chance to be skilled up and ready for the digital business opportunities of the future,” the spokesperson said.
“But places for the Get Up To Speed program in the Moreton Bay Region will fill quickly.”
