The Local Government Election will be held on the 28th April, 2012, when we have a choice. We can go quietly and allow this present Council to continue with “what we don’t know won’t hurt them”, or we can stand up and say “Enough is Enough!” It is time to return our Council to its people and ensure we have a voice. That is why I am standing for Council.
I am a wife, mother and grandmother. I commenced my working career in Nursing. For many years I managed my own real estate company and in property management and tourism. My husband and I now breed Harness Racing Horses on our property.
I want to re-focus our Council’s activities on the provision of the essential basic services: Roads, Waste, Water, Sewerage, Parks and Sporting Facilities.
Lengthening of Left Hand turn lane on Youngs Crossing Road onto Dayboro Road, immediately!
Opening the Dayboro Transfer Station seven days per week.
To phase out the R2 Ratings on rental properties.
Introduce a Hardship Tribunal for rate relief for residents in difficult circumstances.
To eliminate the use of Confidential meetings in-house and provide transparency on Local Government activities. This council had 374 “confidential items” that we know of over the last 4 years.
To have meetings with residents recorded and approved by the residents in attendance to avoid any misunderstandings.
To have weekly mobile offices on a permanent day and place in Narangba, Dayboro and Samford.
To webcast Council meetings and look into its use for “Public Participation” and for a questions and answer period after each meeting.
To implement a flood prevention program in all damaged areas in Division 11 and to use this program throughout the entire Council Region.
To initiate a Bush Fire Awareness Program: To be announced.
There are so many more things from a “No Parking” Sign on Vores Road, to the river crossing at Youngs Crossing and to why nearly 50% of all road closures are in Division 11 after heavy rain. With your help my list continues!
