ABOUT LUKE
AND WHY HE IS SEEKING ELECTION – LIBERAL NATIONAL PARTY (LNP) CANDIDATE FOR THE STATE SEAT OF PINE RIVERS
Luke Mellers was born and bred in Pine Rivers. The son of Tom and Marilyn Mellers, he is a fifth generation local with roots stemming back to the first white settlers in Lawnton, Samsonvale and Petrie. Luke and his wife Karen have two gorgeous girls, Charley and Anabelle, and live in their home town of Dayboro.
His local knowledge of Pine Rivers gives him the strength of not only hearing but actually understanding your concerns. Luke Mellers is seeking to represent the people of Pine Rivers, as their Liberal National Party (LNP) candidate, primarily to ensure his children and others can have the same fond memories he had growing up within the electorate. Luke brings a conservative approach to Pine Rivers. He understands the meaning of history and moving forward, and hopes to bring a balanced approach to all things throughout the electorate.
Luke started working in hospitality at the age of 17 and has worked in some of Brisbane’s finest hotels. Starting on the floor in food and beverage, he quickly worked his way through to becoming purchasing officer for a 180 room 4.5 star hotel by the age of 19. After realising he could do more for the clients in front office he switched and went on to gain a senior customer relations position. Luke’s experience in customer relations has led him to a successful career thus far in real estate. He has experience in radio and has also helped out in both his father’s former Truck repair business and his Mothers entertainment company.
Luke is a member of the Dayboro and District Progress Association and this year was privileged to be part of the Terrors Turtle’s Relay for Life team, raising close to $25 000 in one night to go towards research into cancer related illness.
Luke has been the MC for many Pine Rivers Shire Council community events throughout the last ten years including Australia Day, Easter and Christmas Concerts.
He has a broad knowledge of the area and its surrounds, and has a strong belief in the fun, family and business opportunities it has to offer. He understands what it means not only to live, but also to work and play, in one of the finest electorates in the state.
