A LIONS TALE July 09

We have been holding our regular monthly business meeting at Dayboro Gourmet Delights, and we thank Dell for giving us stability in this.  We will now be relocating to the Council Offices at 28 Williams Street.  These meetings continue to be on the second Monday of the month.
Last month we were approached to sponsor some talented Junior Cowboys Footy stars as district representatives.  As the Dayboro Lions  are not a group who generally gives financial donations, we organised to sponsor them to do the litter-pick on Dayboro Day.  This meant the kids got to make the effort – and impressive little dynamos they were too! – and the Dayboro Day volunteers were relieved of the enormous and unpleasant task of litter management.  A win-win situation.  The Lions hot dog stall at Dayboro Day treated customers to best-ever product, and still managed to make a pleasing profit.
The June movie was a splendid success well attended by a happy and helpful audience and representative of a classic small-town cinema ethos.  Next movie on 18th July will be the newly released “Night at the Museum2”.
At our changeover dinner, which was attended by over 50 members and friends, President Stewie’s Inaugural speech outlined some interesting proposals for upcoming events.  These include a jumble sale and a medieval banquet.  We will continue and strengthen collaboration with other community groups.  We already work with other Lions clubs, Prog assn, Dayboro Day, Combined churches alarm necklaces & help for needy, and Apex – Clean-up Australia Day & Sellin Fund
At a successful recent business meeting, the Lions ordered 10 more alarm necklaces, following the recognition of the need for more after the installation of the first 10.  We wish to hear of potential recipients to add to our list for one of these to hire on our splendid low-cost scheme, or to purchase at cost with our installation and support supplied free of charge.
Lions have purchased an additional set of walking aids, which are located at Hire Connection.  These add to the equipment we already provide for loan to those who require them.  This is a Dayboro Lions community service, and is administered at no cost by Lion John King.
….More Next Month
