A business case has been prepared for a proposed major, $125.5 million upgrade of Youngs Crossing and the refinement of the West Petrie Bypass.

Moreton Bay Regional Council Mayor, Allan Sutherland said the business case would formally seek funding commitments from the State and Federal governments for the bypass, which includes construction of a 310 metre long all-weather crossing over the North Pine River and associated road infrastructure.
“This is an important project for alleviating traffic congestion in our region, particularly when water is released from North Pine Dam, but it is infrastructure council alone can’t afford to build,” Mayor Sutherland said.
“For this project to proceed we need commitments from the state and federal governments for a significant majority of the funding required for construction.”
The business case prepared by consultants GHD is now publicly available for download from council’s website.
The business case can be downloaded at:
It further investigates and refines what is known as Option G and adopts two potential stages for construction including:
Stage 1 – Protheroe Road to Dayboro Road with a roundabout at Dayboro Road and construction of a bridge over the North Pine River
Stage 2 – Dayboro Road to Torrens Road
Division Eleven councillor, Bob Millar said council has already begun initial consultation with local community groups.
Seeking views from community organisations will be done before proceeding with further planning and designs.
