Sept2012_Dayboro Tennis Club

Open Day 21st July 2012
Wow!  What a day.  Thank you so much to all our wonderful community that helped make it an awesome day!  Thank you to all who entered a team and played in our Wimbledon Qualifiers.
Just by entering a team helped make our day a great success, and provided some fabulous entertainment for our spectators.  Special thanks to Ken Laffey, President Tennis QLD, and his wife, for cutting the ribbon to officially open our beautiful courts. Thanks also to Kayla Berry TQ and Bob Millar Morten Bay Regional Council and to our sponsors, participants, families & friends helping on day,, including:  Matchpoint Tennis Greg Smith, Entire Health, OceanView Estates, Dayboro Butchers, Arkactive Wear, Kids Coaching Tuition Dayboro, Dayboro Bakery, John & Linda Zanolini, Dayboro Playgroup, Dayboro Scouts, CWA, Deborah Medhurst, C & K, Max Rose the giant tennis ball, Brent O’Boyle, Trudy Pole, Mr. & Mrs. Ferdinand, Mr. Rose, Natalie Falconer, Janelle Reilly & BBQ man Brian Matthews. Of course a truly great fun committee – what a team!  Hope we’ve not left anyone out – thank you to all, your support was exceptional.
For those who couldn’t make it, you missed some very entertaining tennis!  Yes there were some ‘grunters’, some ‘lollypoppers’, some great ‘hit n giggle’, spectacular ‘rally’s’, a sensational ‘ACE by Roddick’ from Bronwyn – Lions Club Dayboro.  Terry (the tennis ball) didn’t quite make it to the finals, but the fans where just as crazy as Justin Beibers! Security lapsed somewhat, so there were a few falls but Terry did survive.
Fortunately no prizes were given for best ‘McEnroe Tantrum’ or the ‘Bend n Snap like Kournikova’, but we did have ‘Best Injury’ given to Skye Drysdale for a fantastic scrap n slide across the court, to make that ace forehand.
Overall results where:
1st place – Matchpoint Oldies, Greg Smith & Scott Ferdinand
2nd – IGA – Nathan O’Boyle & Jed
