FIRST RESPONDER RECRUITMENT TIME!
Queensland Ambulance Service First Responder Groups are located in specific rural, remote and isolated communities across Queensland. They attend local accident and medical emergencies to provide life saving first aid treatment until the arrival of advanced medical care. They are volunteers trained in advanced first aid, advanced resuscitation with oxygen therapy and automatic external defibrillation. A First Responder may be required to provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), defibrillate a patient or simply comfort and reassure them until advanced medical care arrives.
Since October last year we have had a dedicated group of First Responders here in Dayboro who have responded and assisted to over 250 medical and traumatic emergencies. The Queensland Ambulance Service is looking to further enhance the numbers of the Dayboro First Responder group. In particular we are looking for Responders that can cover predominantly day time shifts on a weekly rotational roster basis. We train weekly on Wednesday nights 1800-2000hrs and enjoy a friendly, dedicated and focused team orientated environment.
If you live in Dayboro or close surrounds and you’re interested in becoming a First Responder then please come to Dayboro Ambulance Station (140 McKenzie Street) at 1800hrs 29th July 2009 to learn more about this exciting new way of assisting your local community.
