To celebrate the recent warm spring rains which have triggered a frenzy of frog activity in the Moreton Bay Region, council has produced an updated version of its "Frogs Booklet".
Council’s Sustainability Committee chair, Cr Rae Frawley said the popular ‘Frogs Booklet’ was the first in council’s Living with the Environment educational series to include species found in the whole of the Moreton Bay region.“The Moreton Bay Region is home to a variety of frog species, but sadly, some are disappearing due to disease as well as the pressures of climate change and urban development,”she said.
"There are many things that we can do as individuals to help protect and assist these fascinating creatures and the booklet contains some hints for around the home."
The booklet also includes photographs and descriptions of 35 local species to help residents identify frogs in their area.
Keen frog enthusiasts are encouraged to pick up a copy of the Frogs Booklet at their local library, environment centre, or any of council’s customer service centres for free.
