WATER TANKS
– DON’T NEGLECT YOUR INVESTMENT!
Ian Booth, of Complete Tank Services is constantly surprised at the “buy it and forget it . . . . until something goes really wrong” attitude of many water tank owners.
As a former tank builder he now offers his services in every aspect of tank maintenance and proper water tank cleaning. His experience of building tanks is his strength as it means that he now knows what to look for whilst cleaning your tank, and he provides a free expert inspection of your tank whilst cleaning it.
Driving around he sees many water tanks that have problems and are deteriorating. Often these are minor ones that, if fixed NOW, will actually save a lot in repair costs. This is your best option – rather than waiting for a more serious, and costly, problem to develop .
Those cracks and white calcium marks should be attended to NOW! These are actually very damaging to your water tank, as, inside the walls of your concrete water tank is steel reinforcing. The steel expands and this makes the cracks – however water getting into the steel will cause it to rust.
Your water tank is an investment – Have you priced one recently to see how much they are now worth?
Water tank inspection is increasingly becoming a requested item on a building inspection. Ian is frequently asked to do an inspection on the tanks.
REMEMBER: Fixing a small problem in its early stages is a lot better – and less expensive – that waiting for it to turn into a expensive repair if left for a while.
DO YOU HAVE A METAL WATER TANK?
Is it rusting out? . . . Developing holes?
Ian can help here too as he can concrete metal water tanks cheaper than you can buy another one.
This is especially true when you take into consideration the hidden costs i.e. getting rid of the old tank and the plumbing in the new tank.
Remember that the rainfall is seasonal, so the last thing you want to happen is to loose all your water when a serious problem crops up – The “Murphy’s Law” principal invariably means that the problem will show up when your tank is nice and full (i.e. It isn’t likely to happen when the tank is almost empty!)
Ian Booth says, “I hope this information is helpful in educating you about your tank and saves you money – which I know it will. Rain is seasonal. So the last thing you want to happen is to loose all your water when an existing problem rears its head at an inconvenient time and you have to have it fixed. Wishing you full tanks this summer.”
