Sept2014_NETWORK TOPIC
Winter has seemed to fly by this year . . . . . especially as I was kept ‘on the hop’ for this last month.
The ramp-up in the rehearsal schedule for the Dayboro Players’ production of “Opportunity Knocks” tended to fill my calendar, add a sick family member into the mix . . . and chaos ensued. BUT that is ALL behind me now. All well. Play ‘done and dusted’ for 2014 – the 2 nights had the audience laughing, following their delicious meal by Dan, of Dayboro Deli fame.
RAIL: In early August I was invited to go on a bus trip along the Petrie to Kippa-Ring rail link. It certainly opened my eyes to the massive scale of the project. Whilst some may grumble about how long it has taken to see this project come to fruition, the delay is offset by the more modern approach being taken. Over a century ago the environmental impact would likely not have been taken into account. The provision of a walking and cycling pathway parallel to the rail line is a great touch, especially with the ‘fitness push’ these days. Now, about a ‘line to Dayboro’ ..?
CHANGES: If you look at the back cover of this edition you will notice some changes . . . . All the entries which started with “Dayboro” have been changed to reflect “what/who” they are, with the location identifier, Dayboro, at the end of the name. Similarly treated are other groups featuring a locality name at the beginning of their title, e.g. the Rural Fire Brigades, Poultry Club, Soccer, Netball etc.
PHOTOS: Please be mindful of the size of the photos you send through. GO BIG! It is far easier (and better results likely) when I reduce the size of a large photo file that I receive, rather than to try to ‘boost’ the size of a small file received. Blurred and unsharp images? No thanks. As someone once told me, “You can’t make a silk. purse out of a sow’s ear.” I do some basic stuff – crop to a certain area on a photo, lighten the image etc.
