Sept2014_Closeburn Rural Fire Brigade Community Support Register

The Rural Fire Brigade is a voluntary group of trained community members who assist the community by way of attending bush fires and hazard reduction burns.
They may also be called upon to assist at traffic accidents, for example traffic control, (under police direction), house fires (under Queensland Fire and rescue direction), and floods.

The Closeburn RFB is one of your local Brigades, and we are presently creating a community register of support personnel who are willing to be called upon when required to assist in baking goodies and/or preparing lunches/dinners for the fire fighters when they are in the field, fighting fires.
We anticipate that the register will cover two situations.  (A) In emergency situations (for example on occasions like the recent Cashmere/Clear Mountain fires) and (B) for planned hazard reduction burns (for example on Saturday 26 July over 30 Rural Fire Fighters from Closeburn RFS conducted a hazard reduction burn in the Closeburn area covering 26 hectares,  from 7.30 am to 5 pm.)
Interested members of the community can register their availability to be called upon in cases of A or B or both as explained above, to assist with catering for our Fire Fighters when required.
You can register by emailing mcgahey@iinet.net.au  or phone Pam on 32894385 for more details.  (Please note that I am not always home.)
