RE GRAPEVINE DEADLINES: PLEASE STICK TO THESE DEADLINES !!
Late articles mean a heavier workload for me – as it involves reorganising the layout of the edition. There is also the fact that the “Editorial” process will have already been completed, so then the risk of ‘typos’ getting through is increased because this process also involves proof reading.
. . . I would rather receive your article on time – with a note that some aspect, i.e. a date for an event, is to be confirmed, a photo to come, or perhaps event results are to come and will be advised a couple of days after the deadline. This is better than to receive the entire submission late. Of course you would need to follow this up by getting that missing information or photo to me a.s.a.p.
I GET CALLS: I get so many call along the lines of “When is the next Grapevine deadline?”
We put this information inside the front cover of each edition – and as fillers throughout the edition; I send out reminder emails to regular contributors . . . But you don’t need to look for your ‘Grapevine’ or wait for that email . . .
The deadline is the 3rd Friday of the month. So just look at any calendar – current year of course!
Occasionally a Public Holiday falls on this date – then the deadline is the day before this – but only Good Friday springs to mind as being a possible cause of this.
The only other exception is that the 3rd Friday in December is not a deadline date. This is because we do not produce a January edition.
