Sept10 LUTHERAN CHURCH NEWS

GERMAN NIGHT – October 16

Dayboro’s own mini-Oktoberfest is happening again this year at the Memorial Showgrounds on Saturday 16th October from 6.30pm for nibblies with a two course meal following at approximately 7pm.  This is followed by tea and coffee and more German food.  Tickets are $25.00 per person and bookings can be made by phoning Val on 3425 1424.
This is a BYO drinks event, though the choice of a complimentary German beer on arrival is yours.  Throughout the night there will be music and singing and other entertainment, with a German flavour of course.
Dayboro has quite a strong German heritage with several families still living in the town who are descended from the very early arrivals in the 1870’s.  Some of the local family names are Enchelmaier, Lindenberg, Kuhn, Sellin, Merker, Rohlf and Ihm.
CHURCH SERVICES
Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church is located in Cruice Street.  Services are held every Wednesday night from 7pm.
On the first and third Wednesdays we celebrate communion, 2nd Wednesday is less formal, and 4th Wednesday is usually a fellowship night to which everyone is invited, and is followed by a cuppa and cake.
For further information about our services, please phone Val Ebert on 3424 1424.
