Sep2013_Ocean View community group granted support

NRMA Insurance has announced Ocean View Rural Fire Brigade as the recipient of a 2013 Community Grant, providing the local organisation with funding to the value of $2,000 for an emergency readiness and response project.
The project – Operation Work Safe – will involve the purchase and installation of locker lights for two of their response vehicles.  Currently the brigade relies on torches and headlights for night time operations which significantly hinders the brigade’s performance and response times.
Mariana Cidade, NRMA Insurance spokesperson, said the Community Grants program has been helping upstanding community groups build safer communities for over 10 years.
“We have had a fantastic response this year from community groups who have some outstanding ideas on how to help their local communities.  Ocean View Rural Fire Brigade is one of this year’s recipients and we are excited to see how the grant will help their community.
“The Community Grants program provides NRMA Insurance with the opportunity to support and work closely with communities like Ocean View in order to address local issues,” said Ms. Cidade.
This year across QLD, 20 groups received Community Grants, with NRMA Insurance investing around $78,800 into local initiatives.  Since the program’s inception in 2003, there have been approximately 1,400 recipients nationally totalling more than $5.8 million.
The Community Grants program supports upstanding communities with outstanding ideas to make our communities safer. Community organisations can apply to receive funding for projects working in the areas of road safety, crime prevention, emergency readiness and response or environmental initiatives.
