The Queensland Plan
The Queensland Plan
As you may have seen advertised, The Queensland Plan process is well and truly underway. Queensland is a great state and our future is full of opportunity. We need to work together to make the most of these opportunities and define a long-term vision for Queensland.
The Queensland Plan will outline our shared vision for the next 30 years and identify local and state-wide priorities. It will harness the collective wisdom of Queenslanders and guide future activities delivered by all levels of government, business and the community. The Queensland Plan is being developed during 2013 through a collaborative process involving community members, business and industry representatives, state and local government officers and Members of Parliament. Pine Rivers Show
I recently attended the 109th Pine Rivers show. The show is a fantastic annual event in our region and it was great to see large crowd numbers enjoying the rides, pavilions and various displays. Congratulations to all the organisers and stall holders for once again putting on a successful event.
Dayboro State School Parliament Visit
On the 8th of August a number of student leaders from Dayboro State School attended Parliament House for an educational tour and lunch. It is always a thrill for students to learn the history of Queensland’s Parliament as well as view the historic building itself.
Pine Rivers Neighbourhood Centre
A $13,000 donation has been handed over to Pine Rivers Neighbourhood Centre from the proceeds of the Pine Rivers BrisBricks Lego Expo, held in Strathpine earlier this year.
The donation, from door fees at the Expo, will help to fund the on-going work of the Neighbourhood Centre’s Kids Friends Mentoring Program.
Ms Melinda Fleming, Director of the Neighbourhood Centre, outlined to those gathered that the Kids Friends Program receives no government funding and relies on generous donations such as this to continue mentoring children in our community.
Mr Russell Bates, representative of BrisBricks, stated that supporting a program that provided assistance to children fitted perfectly with the ethos of BrisBricks.
The cheque was presented in a custom made Lego presentation box, built especially by Mr Bates for the occasion.
Mr Seath Holswich, State Member for Pine Rivers, was excited about the benefit this year’s inaugural Expo has brought to the Pine Rivers community.
“This $13,000 for the Neighbourhood Centre goes with nearly $4,000 raised for local schools through the sausage sizzles to mean this has truly been a significant event for Pine Rivers community groups.”
“I am pleased to announce that the Expo will be back in 2014, for three days over the June long weekend.”
