Tickets are available through Heart & Soul gift shop,

The general consensus in Samford is that there should be more live music within the community to warm hearts, raise a smile, bring friends together, and residents can go out locally for a quality evening for young and old.  This need has been swimming around the minds of many residents and word on the street is that something just has to begin.
After a casual afternoon chat on a sunny veranda, a pair of gals Sonja Gerdsen and Maree Ashwell (local to Samford) decided to co-ordinate a quarterly music event at the Farmers Hall in Samford Village.  Aiming to provide quality live music and entertainment in Samford Valley, bringing people and families together, there was no messing about for these girls.  With many a phone call, loads of local community kindness, spirit and support, the Samford Music Sessions are now a reality.
Those attending the premier event on Saturday, December 13th, 2008 will be delighted by the tender emotional lyrics of pianist/singer/songwriter Ann Vriend.  This Canadian brunette’s current country/folk-pop and sometimes bluesy moving originals exude honesty through her crisp, rolling voice comparable to the likes of Edie Brickell, Norah Jones with a flash of Billie Holliday in her earlier works.  Her performance will be a stunning experience.  Ann is running her own songwriting workshops at the Farmers Hall in the late afternoon and her CD’s will be on sale on the night.  Any enquiries about this can be directed to 3289 5479.
Supporting the international visitor will be Yemanja, with their cool, euro-gypsy acoustic music.  With their fun-loving mix of Jazz, Samba, Boss ANOVA, Classical Brazilian Folk, this popular music duo recently nominated as finalists in Q Music Song Awards.  Yemanja is made up of Australian Songbirdprano, Anita Fernandes, and the ingenious Brazilian 7 string Guitarist, Edson Gazani.  Together this striking duo create music which is in the middle road of contradiction;  contemporary, yet reminiscent of the golden age of popular music.  Their sounds have been described as progressive yet traditional, sweet yet daringly deep and surely guaranteed to warm your heart.  CDs will be on sale.
The Samford Sessions girls would like to thank the local supporters in kick starting the return of live music nights to the people of the region and their friends and families. All are welcome to join in this event to end a busy year with their friends and family in Samford.
The sponsors are Samford Fresh, Samford Valley Garden Centre, Sherdelle’s Espresso Café, Mimish hair- Dayboro, Heart & Soul Gifts, Sound Australia, Samford Hire, Samford Typing & Copy Centre, Australia Post – Samford, Mt Nebo Postal Delivery, Red Chair and Café 39 who will have their tasty delights on sale.  It is delightful to know we, as a community, agree that music, food and togetherness sooths the soul.  Samford Sessions are going ahead in 2009, relying on continued support from any businesses and interested musicians or groups of polished performers wishing to make this a successful event.
