19 November: Ladies, Pine Rivers View Club meets on the 3rd Wednesday of each month. If you are looking for an interesting morning outing and friendship why not consider becoming a member of VIEW (Voice Interest and Education for Women). As a member of Pine Rivers (Day) VIEW Club you will enjoy visiting interesting places and listening to many and diverse guest speakers. Whilst enjoying other female company you will be supporting the Smith Family and in particular their ‘Learning for Life’ programme.

Handicraft Classes are held on 1st and 4th Friday of the month in the CWA Hall from 9.30 a.m. Cost $3. Everyone Welcome.

October Meeting.

Members agreed that once a year it would be nice to change the venue of our meeting and so this meeting was held at Rendezvous Cafe in Dayboro.

SNAKES ON THE MOVE

It’s that time of the year when reptiles are emerging from their winter hibernation and are easily coming into contact with people and pets and often acting aggressively. Residents should be especially careful when working in gardens and walking along our many recreational trails. It is advisable to carry a compression bandage in the event of snake bite. Vancouver Island was a place we just had to see, so we flew to Nanaimo by sea plane and drove down to Victoria.
My favourite place was the quaint town of Chemainus which is famous for its 30+ murals on the buildings around the township.

The D’Aguilar Biosphere meeting’s guest speaker, Dominic Hyde, was involved from the project’s inception as President of MEPA (Mt Glorious Environmental Protection Assoc.).
He explained how it started out as an idea to develop working relationships with agencies and non-Governmental organisations (NGO’s) to address the problem of weed management. These partnerships provided resources to manage the effects of these agencies and NGO’s work i.e. where soil disturbances lead to a proliferation of weeds.

BUS TRIP: Saturday 22 November is the date for Samford Museum’s annual bus trip.
This year we will be visiting Redcliffe Museum featuring Queensland’s first European settlement story, a video of mullet fishing and local sporting greats. Then take in an old time movie at Redcliffe Movie Palace before going on to Abbey Museum.
