Oct2013_Teaching kids to relax reaps rewards
‘Calm for Kids’, relaxation classes, teach children how to relax their bodies and focus their minds. Instructor, Katie Clayton has brought this innovative program to Dayboro where she teaches primary school aged children in a fun, creative and imaginative class.
As a primary school teacher Katie has used relaxation techniques and creative visualization in her classrooms for 10 years. She has seen how regular relaxation practice can help kids to improve concentration, attention, behavior and self belief. Katie found that the Calm for Kids program complemented and extended in a more formalized manner what she was doing intuitively in her classes.
Katie is dedicated to teaching ‘Calm for Kids’ – a 45 minute relaxation class that introduces children to guided relaxation, visualizations, peer massage, gentle stretching and breathing exercises.
“I believe that in today’s busy world children who learn relaxation strategies will have gained a lifelong skill to help them deal with their emotions, stress and anxieties.
I am passionate about working with kids and teaching them ways to become more caring, happy and healthy.”
‘Calm for Kids’ classes not only teach kids how to slow down and take a moment to breathe calmly, they also teach children how to use positive self-talk and affirmations to boost self-esteem and self-confidence – invaluable lifelong tools that build strength and resilience.
Join Katie for ‘Calm for Kids’ classes Monday afternoons at 3:30pm in the Dayboro Community Hall.
