YOU ARE INVITED to join our COACH TRIP on Sat. October 26th. 2013

The coach will depart Samford Museum at 8 am on Saturday 26th October.

The programme consists of a leisurely drive to Wellington Point where we will enjoy a scenic bayside drive followed by morning tea.  We then visit the highly regarded Wynnum Ambulance Museum.

Lunch and refreshments follow at Wynnum Manly Leagues Club after which we drive to the Redland Bay Museum where a new textile display is a most interesting feature.

Tour cost is $60.00 per person and this covers coach, morning tea, lunch and entry to both of the museums.  So all you have to do is sit back and enjoy a totally relaxing and very interesting experience.

Children learn about the lives their family forbears lived years ago.

On Wednesday 11th September we had another wonderful experience at the museum when approximately 50 year one students from Mt Samson State School visited us for a morning of experiencing early life around Samford.  Several teachers and parents came along as well and shared in the sessions we provided.  All of our volunteers who engage with the students in showing and telling of past aspects of everyday life are truly impressed by the impeccable manners and strong desire to learn so enthusiastically shown by the girls and boys.

Over 600 school children have already made similar visits to us in 2013 and based on the feedback we are receiving it is obvious the programme is without doubt very beneficial to all concerned. We look forward to working with schools in continuing these activities well into the future.

Visiting Blacksmith on last Sunday of month:

Martin Wynn Hughes who is a specialist blacksmith was at the Museum on Sunday, Sept. 29th, to actually manufacture in our blacksmith shop a very interesting variety of objects which he has shaped and molded from plain steel.  Martin also brings along lots of his productions which anyone is able to purchase on the day or even order a personal request. Martin comes to us on the last Sunday of every month and is without doubt a most interesting craftsman who is truly well worth meeting and observing.
