Have your say on Queensland’s Electricity Future
Residents are now able to access and provide feedback on the Newman Government’s 30-year Electricity Strategy discussion paper released as part of the current Six Month Action Plan.
This is a chance for consumers to make sure they had their say in shaping the final 30-Year Electricity Strategy.
Local residents, businesses and industry members now have the opportunity to give their views on the changes needed to address the immediate and long-term challenges for Queensland.
The discussion paper is available at www.dews.qld.gov.au , with submissions closing on 6 December 2013.
School Road Safety
Recently I tabled a petition in Parliament calling on the State Government to install flashing school zone signs outside some of the region’s schools.
Around 550 concerned parents, teachers and local residents signed the petition, recognising the importance of improving road safety outside local schools.
The Newman Government has committed $10 million to installing over 300 sets of lights at schools within four years.
Flashing school zone signs throughout Queensland are proving a valuable visual reminder to motorists to slow down around schools.
I am working hard to ensure that Pine Rivers schools are well represented in this initial rollout of 300 schools as part of my plan to build a better Pine Rivers.
Flood Resilience Focus
A causeway on Wirth Road, Laceys Creek will be replaced and improved as part of the Newman Government’s commitment to building flood resilience across Queensland.
Wirth Road residents find themselves cut off and isolated several times a year due to water running over this causeway and ultimately washing the causeway away.
I have listened to the residents’ concerns and am pleased to be able to assist in providing a permanent solution for this causeway.
This project, along with similar projects on McKenzie St and Mount Mee Road in Dayboro which I announced last week, will build flood resilience in the Dayboro region.
