Buddha’s lucky recovery
Buddha the Cavalier King Charles Spaniel is lucky to have a dedicated and loving owner, Sarah, who originally brought him into the Old Mill Vet Surgery with eye irritation and knew he was ‘not quite right’.
Sarah saw in subsequent days that Buddha’s glands around his neck seemed to be getting swollen and his eyes weren’t improving at all.  Under instruction from Dr Slade Walker to ‘stay away from Googling the symptoms’, Sarah feared the worst as there were so many scary diagnoses online.  Testing at the Old Mill Vet Surgery revealed he had a rare disease called Strangles.  You may have heard of a similarly named illness which is seen in horses!
Buddha was treated with immunosuppressants and Sarah started to see an improvement within a few days.  Regular check-ups allowed Dr Annika Oksa Walker to track his improvement and alter his medications accordingly and, when we saw him recently, he was all better.
