The afternoon fair offers a vibrant mix of workshops, including reptiles (pat a crocodile or snake), African drumming, fire twirling and yoga. Visitors also have the chance to roll up their sleeves to tie-dye a t-shirt or sculpt a clay castle. For the young ones there will be puppet shows and story-telling, as well as a myriad of stalls to fire up the creative imagination: candle-making and face painting as well as felting and silk painting. Budding AFL stars can hone their skills with an AFL workshop, grab a ride with a camel or get a henna tattoo. Those looking for a less energetic afternoon can have a professional massage or stroll around the art and crafts market before relaxing to enjoy wholesome food and drinks from a range of gourmet food stalls, offering everything from north Indian curries to gourmet pizza.
As the light begins to fade, the focus will turn to the free twilight show. This year’s offering, “A Saga of Redwall” is a dramatised story with a pantomime touch, featuring scenes from one of Brian Jaques rollicking tales with music and movement, song and dance. “We’re inviting the wider community to bring their picnic rugs and join us in our beautiful amphitheatre for what will be a delightful family performance” says director Jan Baker-Finch.
Entry to the fair (12 noon-5pm) and the twilight concert (5.30pm-7pm) on Saturday 15 October are free. Please contact Samford Valley Steiner School on 3430 9600 for further details or visit www.samfordsteiner.qld.edu.au
