Nov2012_Regional Development Australia Fund Rounds 3 and 4 Open

The latest rounds of the Regional Development Australia Fund were announced by The Honourable Simon Crean MP on Tuesday 23rd October 2012, offering grants of between $50,000 and $15 million to support infrastructure projects in regional Australia.
Mr Crean said the Federal Government made improvements to the RDAF guidelines to make it easier to apply and also broadened the scope of projects which can be funded.
Round 3 has been targeted at small towns (population of less than 30,000), offering grants of between $50,000 and $500,000, whereas Round 4 will provide grants from $500,000 to $15 million to deliver priority regional infrastructure in partnership with funding from state and local governments, as well as the private sector.
“RDAF will continue to drive a cultural change in regional funding by focusing on priorities of persistence and projects that stack-up, partnership and leverage, and regional reach.
The regions are determining ‘what’ is needed and the Federal Government is providing the ‘how’.”
Mr Crean reaffirmed the Federal Government’s commitment to partnership projects that provide an investment multiplier.
“The first two rounds of RDAF invested $350 million in 81 projects with a total leveraged value of $1.2 billion – that’s a partnership multiplier of up to one to four,” he said.
Mr Crean said that details of round five will be announced soon, which will confirm in full the Federal Government’s commitment to delivering RDAF.
