FIRST ANNUAL SURVEY SEEKS INPUT FROM PINE RIVERS
You should have received my survey by now and I encourage local residents and businesses to have their say in the first annual Pine Rivers Survey.
This survey is an important part of listening to, and understanding, the needs of my electorate and gauging opinion on some important local issues – it is a way for you to have your say.
Locals already have opportunities to connect with me at my Electorate Office, my regular Mobile Offices and via my Online Office, but this survey intentionally canvasses some important local issues.
The responses I receive to this survey will help shape my priorities for the next 12 months and beyond.
You can download a copy of the survey via my webpage: www.seathholswich.com
Every survey response received before Friday 9th November will go into the draw to win one of two prizes of $150 worth of gift vouchers to local businesses.
A summary of the survey results will be published once the data is collated.
LOCAL SPORTING CLUBS ENCOURAGED TO APPLY FOR “GET IN THE GAME” FUNDING
I would like to encourage all local sporting clubs to apply for funding through the Newman Government’s latest commitment to grassroots sports participation.
The Get in the Game program represents an $18 million boost for local sporting organisations and children participating in local sporting clubs.  Our focus is on promoting greater participation in sport at the grassroots level, by supporting local clubs and organisations and providing more help for Queensland families by reducing the costs of club registrations and funding better equipment and infrastructure.
Get in the Game consists of three funding programs; Get Started, Get Going and Get Playing – designed to get more young people playing sport and involved in recreation activities.
Get Started would provide more than 40,000 vouchers of up to $150 to help with the cost of registration fees for disadvantaged children, or children who would realise social or health benefits from joining a sporting club.
Get Going will see $10,000 grants paid directly to community clubs to help them grow, through the purchasing of new sporting equipment or promoting new membership initiatives.
The Get Playing program will provide $100,000 grants for community sporting clubs to upgrade or replace existing facilities and infrastructure.
Get Going and Get Playing applications close on 1st December 2012.  Applications for Get Started will open in January 2013.

ROADS UPDATE: MOUNT MEE ROAD RECONSTRUCTION WORKS
Work is nearing completion at the sites where the road is currently operating as a single lane under traffic signals at Ocean View.  At the time of writing this column it was expected that the road at this location would be open to two lanes by the end of October 2012, weather permitting.
There will be a lane closure required when work is undertaken further along Mount Mee Road, just north of Fred’s Road.  It is expected that this work will be started and completed before Christmas 2012, weather permitting.  The community will be informed in the near future of the timeframes and changed traffic conditions required for this work.
For any enquiries relating to this project, please phone the Transport Network Reconstruction Program team on 1800 459 366 or email reconstruct_northcoast@tmr.qld.gov.au.
MOBILE OFFICES
I am continuing to hold Mobile Offices throughout the electorate each month.  I will be holding a Mobile Office in Dayboro on the corner of Williams Street and Heathwood Street’s on Thursday, 13th December between 1pm and 2.30pm.  I invite you to pop down and chat to me.
