Nov2011_RESIDENTS SHOULD PREPARE NOW

. . . FOR STORM AND FLOOD SEASON
Last weekend’s wild hail storms across some of our region should act as a timely reminder for all residents to prepare now for the summer storm and flood season, local LNP candidates said today.

“Last summer showed us that there’s no place for complacency as we head into summer,” said Mr Seath Holswich, LNP Candidate for Pine Rivers.  “We each need to prepare for the worst case scenario ahead of time to ensure the safety of our loved ones as well as our property and belongings.”
Mr Trevor Ruthenberg, LNP Candidate for Kallangur, is encouraging all parents to prepare and discuss emergency plans with their children.  “As a father, I want to ensure that my children know exactly what to do in case of an emergency.  The time to do that is now, not in the middle of a severe weather event.”
“Advance preparation is the key to being able to cope with any severe weather event,” Mr Holswich added.  “Have your emergency plan prepared, have your emergency kit fully stocked and be prepared.”
Emergency contact numbers include Energex for fallen powerlines on 13 19 62, the State Emergency Service on 132 500 and Triple Zero (000) for all life threatening emergencies.
