REMEMBER!!   11am on 11th November
Each year Australians observe one minute silence at 11 am on 11 November, in memory of those who died or suffered for Australia in all wars and armed conflicts.

Remembrance Day (11 November) marks the anniversary of the Armistice which ended the First World War (1914–18).  The Armistice terms were agreed to at a meeting at 5am on 11 November 1918 and became effective at 11am on the day.  The guns fell silent on the Western Front in France and Belgium, marking the end of four years of hostilities.
After World War 11 the Australian Government agreed to the proposal from the United Kingdom that Armistice Day be renamed Remembrance Day – commemorating those who were killed in both World Wars.  The loss of Australian lives from all wars and conflicts is commemorated on Remembrance Day.
A Proclamation in October 1997 by the then Governor-General reinforced the importance of Remembrance Day (11 November) and encouraged all Australians to renew their observance of the event as a day to remember the sacrifice of those who have died for Australia in wars and conflicts.

Remember!! – No January Grapevine!!
Our December edition is your last opportunity to promote an event that may be occurring on or before say the weekend of FEBRUARY 11th and 12th 2012.  (We do not produce a January edition.  To do so would entail our volunteers working over Christmas . . . and other parties involved e.g. our Printers and Collators are enjoying a well-deserved break at this time anyway!!)  So remember that November 16 is the deadline for articles and advertising for our December 2011 edition.
