STOP PRESS: Alison Taylor was named as Moreton Bay Regional Council’s Citizen of the Year at a gala ceremony at the Redcliffe Cultural Centre on Saturday, 23rd January.
It was mentioned that Alison is currently tuckshop convenor at Dayboro State School, treasurer of the Lutheran Church Committee, President of the Dayboro Hall Committee, State Cookery Convenor for the Country Women’s Association and Vice President of the Dayboro District Historical Society . . . But they left out Secretary of the Dayboro AH&I Show Society!!
Congratulations Alison – Keep up your good work.
Congratulations Alison – Keep up your good work.
Now, on a low note I mention the theft and destruction of many of the Dayboro District Progress Association’s Christmas Lights!! It is certainly a sad state of affairs that there are now elements in our community that are committing these acts of vandalism and theft! Perhaps they would rather our township not have these festive light displays??!!
What is also alarming it the danger that the perpetrators unknowingly put themselves in when they scaled the metal Christmas tree shaped light display in Roderick Cruice Park (near the Pool). Those lights were 240 volts . . . So they risked electrocution! . . . The voltage of these light was not reduced through a transformer, as were the regular Christmas Lights.
Obviously, when seeking to replace this lot of lights, there needs to be considerable thought going into making them more “idiot-proof”.
PLUS: Obviously there needs to be some thinking done by some local parents! DO YOU KNOW WHAT YOUR CHILD IS GETTING UP TO AS THEY ROAM OUR STREETS AT NIGHT??!!
There are some youngsters who are playing games involving resident’s meter boxes – AND WE DON’T THINK IT IS VERY FUNNY!! If it happens to you – report it to the Police!
