– Dayboro serves the memory of its WW1 soldiers
Dayboro War Memorial Association had has three granite columns erected around the WW1 cenotaph with the names and known history of the men who enlisted from the local district and were killed during WW1, following a grant of $7535 from the Queensland Government Anzac Centenary grants program.
President of the Dayboro War Memorial Association, Richard Hawkins, said the columns bear the names, photographs and history of the fifteen local men who served.
“These memorials will honour the men who served with the dignity and the respect they deserve,” Mr Hawkins said.
“The monument will be there for the many generations to come.”
The cenotaph is located in Roderick Cruice Park where the Dawn Service was held on Anzac Day 2015, drawing a crowd of over 800 people.
