May2015_2015 EMPLOYER OF THE YEAR

Brisbane Bus Lines, a family business with long-standing links to the Dayboro community, has been servicing the South-East Queensland community for 50 years.  They have been  recognised for their achievements at the Queensland Bus Industry Gala Dinner and Award Night held in Cairns on Saturday 11th April 2015.
Brisbane Bus Lines took out the Employer of the Year award for their commitment to driver training.  Thanks to Queensland Government Funding, eligible drivers have completed, or are currently in the process of completing, a Certificate III in Driving Operations.  This accounts for 45% of the Brisbane Bus Lines driving team.
Brisbane Bus Lines was also recognised for a Defensive Driving training program, which has seen a positive outcome regarding motor vehicle accidents.  This training and Brisbane Bus Lines commitment to ongoing training is of great benefit to the company’s culture.
The second award received by Brisbane Bus Lines was a 50 Years of Service Award.  Brisbane Bus Lines is a third generation family business.  Incorporated in 1965 by the late Bill Mitchell, the company was grown through the 80’s and 90’s by his two son’s Ian and Jeff Mitchell.  Today, Ian continues the business with his daughter Lara-Jane Mitchell and son James Mitchell.
Family businesses are a great culture to work in and are an important part of the economy.
Congratulations to Brisbane Bus Lines, and thank you for your ongoing contributions to the Dayboro community.
