Upcoming Events
The month of May is going to be a very busy time here in Pine Rivers with many events and Ministerial visits to look forward to. On the 6th of May I will be hosting a Strathpine Business Forum to discuss issues concerning local business operators and how we can revitalise the business hub of Strathpine.  Following that on the 7th of May I will be hosting a lunch with The Hon. Jann Stuckey Minister for Tourism, Major Events, Small Business and Commonwealth Games where I will be launching a local business survey.  On the 8th of May I will be welcoming The Hon. John Paul Langbroek Minister for Education, Training and Employment to participate in a roundtable discussion on education with Principals from Pine Rivers schools.  Following this the Minister for Transport and Main Roads The Hon. Scott Emerson will be visiting the area.  During this trip I will be discussing the transport and road priorities for our area.  To cap off this busy week on the 10th of May I will be flying to Mackay with three delegates from Pine Rivers to participate in the Queensland Plan summit which brings together a broad range of community members and elected representatives from across the state to plan for the future of our great state. Finally for May and in the spirit of the Newman Government’s recently passed ‘anti hooning’ legislation The Hon. Jack Dempsey Minister for Police will be travelling to Pine Rivers to join me in in launching the Hoon Watch initiative.
The Queensland Plan
The Premier recently announced an exciting initiative called the Queensland Plan.  The Queensland Plan will outline our shared vision for the next 30 years and identify local and state wide priorities.  The Queensland Plan will be developed through a collaborative process involving community members, business and industry representatives, state and local government officers and Members of Parliament.  The Pine Rivers Queensland Plan Working Group will provide input to the Queensland Plan, as well as seek wider community input during the community engagement period. The Pine Rivers Working Group will consist of a wide range of representatives who will provide a good cross section of the Pine Rivers community.
ANZAC Day
For ANZAC day this year I had the privilege of attending a number of ceremonies throughout Pine Rivers to pay my respects and mark this very significant day.  A number of these ceremonies were held at local schools and it was fantastic to see the younger generation enthusiastically participating in the day’s events and recognising the sacrifices of previous generations.
Hoon Watch
As many community members are aware hooning and its associated dangerous driving practices are a serious problem on our streets that needs to be stamped out.  As part of the Newman Government I am committed to addressing the problems that these reckless drivers bring about and as a government we have already taken steps toward this with the introduction of the countries toughest anti-hooning laws.  To assist with cracking down on hooning I am excited about the upcoming launch of Hoon Watch in our area that myself, The Hon. Jack Dempsey Minister for Police and local police representatives will be participating in.
