May2012_PINE RIVERS MP SEEKS FIRST HAND EXPERIENCES
State Member for Pine Rivers, Seath Holswich MP, is honouring his commitment to keep connected with the Pine Rivers community by seeking to experience the circumstances of other people.
Prior to the election Mr Holswich made a commitment to spend one day per quarter “in the life of” various individuals or groups in Pine Rivers so that he can relate firsthand to their occupation or life situation.
“I have made an on-going commitment that throughout this three year term as the representative for Pine Rivers, I will spend one day every quarter with a group or individual or family so that I can better appreciate their life situation.”
Mr Holswich’s first experience will be spending a day with the carer of a person with an acquired brain injury.
“I’ve read books about acquired brain injury, I’ve helped out the Brainwaves Acquired Brain Injury Association, but that still can’t give me a true appreciation of the day to day routine of a carer and their loved one.”
Mr Holswich hopes that these experiences will allow him to be a better advocate for issues that are important to the Pine Rivers community.
