May2012_NATURE AS ART AND INSPIRATION

Residents of Samford and its surrounds appreciate unique peace and beauty, as we enjoy hectares of unspoiled bushland, majestic mountains, scenic rivers and dams.
As an initiative of the new programme, ‘Creative Samford,’ Mary Mageau is offering individuals an opportunity to explore creative writing skills during a four week nature writing course.  Meeting for one and a half hours weekly, the course content includes short form poetry: haiku and cinquain, descriptive prose writing and nature journaling.
The class numbers will be small to facilitate writing within an atmosphere of cooperative sharing.
Mary is an internationally published poet and author of four historical novellas for young adults and general readers.  Her books are available through the Moreton Bay libraries and her Amazon author page at http://www.amazon.com/-/e/B004X4DOPM
If you are interested in attending ‘Nature as Art and Inspiration,’ contact Mary at 3289 – 1181.  Beginning writers are especially welcome and bookings are required.
Dates: 1:00 – 2:30pm on Thursdays – May 10, 17, 24 and 31.
Venue: The Albany Creek Library meeting room, Ferguson Street.
Cost: There is no fee but in order to cover the cost of course notes and room hire, a donation of $3.00 is expected during each class.
