Dayboro Trail Riders – April Ride report by Bob Ebert
Our April ride was very wet under-hoof, which caused a late change from an all day ride to a regular morning one.
However, this didn’t deter 25 riders, including 2 very small girls on short grey ponies, from a good trail ride.
We left the showgrounds via Edmonds Court, Riverview and Hillview Crts, the River Park, where we shadowed the 2 ponies across the fast flowing North Pine River, then through Humble’s, Dick’s, where we went in a big ‘U’ shape criss-crossing Lacey’s Creek. Then onto Rowe Rd, Lacey’s Ck Rd, McKenzie St and back home.
Lisa had catered for the all-day ride, preparing deluxe salads and meats with lemon tart for desert. These were devoured by hungry riders, their families and the back-up crew of helpers. We signed up 9 new riders and discussed the upcoming away rides. Another great club ride.
Trail Riders Association (TRA) Fundraising Camp at Blackbutt

This camp was an outstanding success with 30 riders raising over $11,000 for the Leukaemia Foundation of QLD. Dayboro was well represented with Graham Bailey raising the highest amount of money – $1575, (closely followed by Lorraine Bailey who raised $1140).
A big Thank You to the people from Dayboro who supported the ride; Susanne Alcock, Dayboro Catholic Community, Michael Cruice and the IGA, Craig Doyle Group, Matthew Cruice for Ray White, Bob Millar, Scott Heathwood at Dayboro Butcher and all the friends and rellies who were so generous.
Kilkivan Ride Report

A small but gallant bunch turned up for the Great Kilkivan Ride. Bob, Peter, Lorraine, Graham, Lisa, Gemma, Neil, Mick and Victoria from Dayboro. Graeme Sleeman, Jenny, Sandy and John from Mudgeeraba, Niki and Janelle from Kin Kin. We camped together so happy hour was great fun. Some did the Tansey ride and others the Wongella ride.
7.00am saw 365 riders head off for the Wongella ride; a new trail that took us along the mountain ridge. It was a fast pace, cool and lovely terrain. Lunch was early and no back up crew in sight. It was a welcome rest waiting under the shady trees for the lunch crew. After a bit of chit chat we were back in the saddle for the long ride back to meet up with the other rides. We didn’t have to wait long and soon we were ready to do the parade down the main street. In all 521 horses lined up. Our club was in a straight line up the front with Bob carrying the club banner with such pride. We all looked great but alas no trophy this year.
Back at camp with many tales to tell at happy hour, then off to bed after another top day. There were no incidents and all the horses were very good. A great camp but where were you? It is said that every rider should do Kilkivan at least once – we agree!
