Work is under way to build the Moreton Bay Region’s blueprint for the future – Our Tomorrow: Community Plan 2021.
Moreton Bay Regional Council Mayor, Allan Sutherland, said the results of council’s recent community survey were now being collated and analysed for the next crucial phase of the community’s plan.
“This is very much a plan built by the community for the community,” Mayor Sutherland said.
“Residents have told us what’s important and about the community they want to live in over the next 10 years and beyond.
“Every view, every idea, every vision is being considered for the foundations of the Moreton Bay Region’s first community plan.”
Mayor Sutherland said in recent weeks, 4,500 people had their say in the ‘Our Tomorrow: Community Plan 2021’ survey at libraries, shopping centres, on-line and by post.
“They’ve made a valuable contribution to our community that will help form the template for a host of decisions from planning and social initiatives to infrastructure funding across government as well as business,” the Mayor said.
“And in coming months there’ll be even more opportunities to play your part in shaping the region’s future.
“I can’t guarantee every idea will be reflected in the final plan but council is keen to start planning now for an even better region to live, work and play in 2021.”
Residents will be asked for their views on Moreton Bay Regional Council’s draft Community Plan 2021 at community forums across the region later this year.
The final ‘Our Tomorrow: Community Plan 2021’ is expected to be completed by December 2011.
