May 2010 . . Mayor Backs Daylight Saving Debate

Moreton Bay Regional Council Mayor, Allan Sutherland, has welcomed Premier Anna Bligh’s decision to canvas the community’s views on daylight saving.

“Personally, I’m a big fan of daylight saving and believe it could be of enormous benefit to residents of all ages in the Moreton Bay region,” Mayor Sutherland said.
“We have a lifestyle which is the envy of many around the world and daylight saving could see us enjoying more of it.
“But I understand daylight saving isn’t for everyone, that’s why I’m welcoming the Premier’s commitment to seek the community’s view on the issue once and for all.
“I’m looking forward to hearing the opinions of tourism operators, retailers, commuters and mums and dads from our region as the daylight saving debate moves forward.
“It’s important that everybody has a say on this.”
