Moreton Bay Regional Council Mayor Allan Sutherland said the festival would feature a range of events running May 22 to 30, and best of all, they were free.
He said this year’s program would combine traditional favourites such as Rodz Rock ‘n’ Roll and Dayboro Day with the excitement of newcomers like Steppin’ Out – a 1940s celebration.
It will all officially kick-off with The Hills Carnivale at Leslie Patrick Park, Arana Hills on Saturday May 22 before two jam-packed weekends of family fun.
“There will be a mix of international food, music and dance – it’s all about experiencing the cultures and traditions found within our diverse community,” Mayor Sutherland said.
Almost 200 works from the Moreton Bay Region Art Awards will be on show from Saturday with hundreds of artists from all over the country entering this year’s competition.
On Sunday May 23 Old Petrie Town will travel back in time to the war years with music, radio broadcasts, entertainment, cars, collectables, antiques and activities from the 1940s.
Also on May 23 there will also be plenty of power-packed entertainment with the 2010 CORE Series BMX and Skateboard competitions at Albany Creek Skate Park.
Mayor Allan Sutherland said Strathpine would also play host to a variety of custom and classic cars for Rodz Rock ‘n’ Roll on Saturday afternoon, May 29.
He said car lovers of yesteryear would be out in droves at Pine Rivers Park with more than 300 vehicles from the 50s, 60s and 70s expected to take part.
There will also be rock n’ roll music, entertainment and dancing with tributes to Buddy Holly, The Beatles and Johnny O’Keefe to name a few.
An art and craft market day will also be held at Strathpine Community Centre on the Saturday for art lovers.
Dayboro Day, to be held on Sunday May 30, will be the final event on the 2010 Pine Rivers Festival calendar.
There will be plenty to see and do as the main street of Dayboro comes alive with craft markets, antiques, collectables, food, live bands, entertainment and amusement rides.
The Pine Rivers Festival is organised by Moreton Bay Regional Council. The Pine Rivers Press is the Official Print Media Sponsor.
