May 2010. . . 2010 Long Ride to Darwin

for the Prostate Cancer Foundation of Australia
1 May 2010 – 8 May 2010
On 1st May hundreds of motorcycle riders will have left many Australian cities and towns to participate in the Long Ride 2010 to Darwin to raise awareness of Prostate Cancer.
There are 5 different routes winding to Darwin with riders meeting up in Charleville (VIC, NSW, QLD), Tennant Creek (SA, VIC, NSW, QLD) and Katherine when the WA riders meet up to make a most memorable ride into Darwin on Saturday 8 May 2010.  South East Queensland riders will travel to Darwin with overnight stops in Roma, Charleville, Longreach, Winton, Mt Isa, Tennant Creek and Katherine.
Mount Pleasant resident, Owen Capp, will have joined the Long Ride with a former work colleague Ray Lockitt from Deception Bay.  Owen was motivated to participate in the ride as a result of being diagnosed with prostate cancer mid last year.  He had no symptoms and it was only picked up through a PSA blood test. He had a Robotic Prostatectomy in July and has been assured that because of early diagnosis, the prognosis is good.   Owen wants to remind every male over forty to have a test for prostate cancer as there are no symptoms in the early stages when it is curable.
If you would like to support the Prostate Cancer Foundation of Australia through Owen and Ray’s ride you can make a donation by going to the following site:
