March2104_LETTERS TO THE EDITOR

Dear Editor,
I refer to the letter in the last edition from Nola Rankin, in reference to the proposed pedestrian link on Dayboro Road from Alcheringa Estate via Saddleback Dve to Williams Street and the delay in its construction.
If I didn’t know her better, one could be forgiven for wondering what was going through her mind as she knows only too well, from many discussions on the subject, that every effort on the part of Council officers and myself have been frustrated for almost 10 years by the difficulties experienced in gaining approval from the Department of Transport and Main Roads (TMR) as they did not see the project complying with their excessively demanding criteria/design manual.  Not only was Nola aware of this, she may recall me advising her last November (in my Dayboro council office), that she was the first person in Dayboro to know that I had only days before received advice that our persistence had been rewarded with the necessary approval being gained from TMR.  See my column for the rest of the story from here .
Yours Sincerely
Councillor Bob Millar.
